Vicky and Tim’s celebrations were a little bit different to most weddings that I cover as the couple officially tied the knot in Mexico back in January. Their June celebrations at the Land’s End Hotel gave them the opportunity to toast their marriage with family and friends that were not present at their Mexican ceremony.
The Land’s End Hotel is a truly spectacular venue, perched on the rugged cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. When I arrived to meet Vicky for some shots of her and her girlfriends getting ready, the sea mist was just beginning to burn off to reveal some incredible blue sky – I knew we were in for a pretty special day.
When I first met Vicky and Tim back in March I was struck by what a friendly and down to Earth couple they were and so I was not surprised to find that they have a wide but close network of good friends and family surrounding them. As Vicky donned her beautiful gown and applied the finishing touches to her hair and make-up she had a near constant stream of visitors who couldn’t wait to wish her well and give her a hug. Her room ended up very full with lots of chatter and laughter.
Eventually guests congregated in the bar area of the hotel and waited to greet the couple as they walked hand in hand down the stairs, before everyone set about enjoying an afternoon of sunshine and incredible views. We even had exclusive use of the famous Land’s End sign for a while.
When it came to meal time, Vicky and Tim had not only provided me with a meal (always much appreciated!) but had even, touchingly, included me in the seating plan! It was lovely to have the chance to have a chat with some of the couple’s friends and it was also the perfect time to get some snaps of the delicious food and colourful decorations: Ballooning, Buds and Bows had provided some wonderful balloons, and there were lots of little reminders of the couple’s time in Mexico dotted around.
There was also a Remembrance Poppy theme throughout the reception room in honour of Tim’s sadly deceased Father, with poppy badges for every guest, a Poppy Appeal donation bucket and a fantastic Poppy balloon. Throughout the day I heard so many wonderful things about Tim’s Dad, (clearly a very brave, well-respected and loved man) from family and friends and also of course during the speeches – he was a very special part of the celebrations.
After the meal everyone spilled back out onto the terrace to soak up the last rays and prepare for what must have been an awesome sunset whilst Cassie from Cornwall Caricatures entertained us all by creating some brilliant portraits of the couple and their guests.
Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of your celebrations and for being so welcoming Vicky and Tim! Wishing you a wonderful future together.
