I need to start by saying I LOVED THIS WEDDING!

Firstly, I was incredibly excited to be asked to shoot my first wedding at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens as it is one of my favourite places in Cornwall: I knew that the fusion of beautiful botanicals and incredible sculpture would be a wedding photographer’s dream!

In the days leading up to the wedding , some of my excitement turned to nerves due to the absolutely atrocious wedding forecast – wall to wall wind and heavy rain. The forecast was so bad that I remember many of us Cornwall Wedding Photographers wishing eachother good luck on Facebook before we set off that morning! Lady luck was definitely on our side though and the rain didn’t actually arrive until slightly later than forecast. Jess was able to walk through the garden to the beautiful ceremony in the entrance to the Turell Skyspace without an umbrella, guests were able to enjoy alfresco fizz and canapes and I was able to explore the gorgeous gardens with the newlyweds and get some beautiful images of the two of them. We even managed to get our family and group shots done in the dry with the heavens opening just in time for the confetti (the addition of colourful umbrellas only made this even more beautiful actually!) By the time we walked down the hill through the lush tree ferns the heavy rain felt almost tropical (just slightly chillier!).

The couple’s reception was held in Carleen Village Hall and I was absolutely blown away by how personal and authentic the whole thing was: The hall had been decorated beautifully and colourfully by the family with stunning flowers from the gardens of family and friends, food was being busily prepared in the kitchen by the Bride’s and Groom’s Mothers, Jess and other guests were adding last minute edible flowers to the wedding cake (a spectacular buttercream affair, also made by the bride), the bridesmaids were sorting out dishes of butter for the table, a wheelbarrow was being hastily filled with beer – it just felt like a good old-fashioned family knees-up, completely unpretentious and unforced – just perfect.

Thanks so much Jess & Alex – I feel really lucky to have been a part of such a special day.
